My training at Gracie Barra Glasgow

“The 16 week program has been great. Not just through the physical side but also increasing confidence in the participator. I would certainly recommend Brazilian jiu jitsu to anyone and certainly to anyone who has in the past been attacked and lacks that confidence, There is no pressure to perform enabling you to go at your own pace to perfect the moves demonstrated, which are shown step by step. All in all I loved it and look forward to continuing! Thank you.”

“I have been training at gracie barra glasgow now for a good few weeks and it has been the best desicion i have made,I have been to a few mma type gyms in the past but nothing i have ever done has been so organised and professional as this.I was kind of put off in the past but i said i would give it another go and was told about this place,The instructor ricky gillon makes you feel very welcome and all the guys who train here are all great no egos that i had encountered in the past just friendly people who let you join in.I also tried the conditioning class and can i say it was one of the hardest sessions i have ever had i was breathing out my arse haha,i would recommend this gym to anyone who is looking to get great instruction and train with a friendly bunch of guys.
thanks everyone.”

“When i first came to the Gracie Barra gym it wasn’t my intention to do brazilian jiu jitsu, actually i didnt even know what it was. I was recieving fitness classes from Ricky, and it wasn’t until a month later when i saw the students roll i asked, “what they doing, it looks weird”. Now i think thats a lot of people’s thoughts if they haven’t dont bjj yet. Its now been 6 months that I’ve been a part of the Gracie Barra family, and to be honest I think it’s the best decision I’ve made to walk into that when mindset comes in, you want, need and end up planning to get those 4 tabs, blue belt, 4 tabs etc, but espectially getting accepted into advanced class. So yea you end up respecting yourself, your class mates and importantly the coach. Brizilian Jui Jitsu changed my life believe it or not, it has definitely gave me a goal and plans to drive for, and i plan on being part of that family for a very long time, and plan on helping Gracie Barra move onwards and upwards. thanks GB ” jiu jitsu for everyone” can this one sport change someone’s life?! I would say, just go to Gracie Barra and the minute you step into Gracie Barra the atmosphere and family-like-friendships that our coach has created will tell you enough.”

At the start of 2012 I attended different Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to help and try advance my ground game. Yet I found little progress. I was getting ready to stop with the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training but then I heard about Gracie Barra and I thought “I’ll give this another chance” and I attended Gracie Barra. The date was 05/03/12 and it was one of the best decisions that I made by attending and becoming a full member of the gym. I wanted more of the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu lifestyle and for a while I took up the Gracie Diet. Since then I have lost over 3 stone and have enjoyed the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu lifestyle even more. However I wasn’t just taken by the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, I started attending the other classes that the gym had to offer. There was a great selection of different classes and I started attending Kickboxing, Muay Thai and Sambo on top of the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. With all the fantastic training I have really felt advancement in my training. Since I began training I’ve gained three tabs on my Brazilian Jiu Jitsu belt. However that isn’t all I have gained, as I’ve also gained many friends since joining, however the people at the gym start to feel like family after you take in the Jiu Jitsu lifestyle. “Organised like a team, fighting like a family”, Ooosss!

Just under a year ago I was unsure about my jiu jitsu journey where I did not have any understanding of the basics. I was entering competitions prematurely and producing poor results. I was about to give up on jiu jitsu until I got an opportunity to come and train at the Gracie Barra Glasgow in February. A couple of months after joining my improvement shone through by medaling in multiple categories within a local jiu jitsu competition. Ever since I have had a strong belief in my ju jitsu ability due to continuous support by the highly qualified staff of Gracie Barra Glasgow where additional support is given by the best BJJ players in the world. I see this school growing stronger and stronger not just on a yearly basis but on a weekly basis. “The future is bright at Gracie Barra Glasgow.I have often found it hard to pick up techniqurs but the way ricky break`s down the technique makes it so much easier for me to learn ,i realise that i have a lot to learn and now taking time out from competition until i work through the programs of Gracie Barra. Also the atmosphere in our school is great there is no ego`s and it makes all the difference as far as me learning bjj it gives me a place i look forwatd to going to to meet my friends and learn. I look forward to improving my bjj and can say that Gracie Barra Glasgow has changed my lifestyle for the better theough brazilian jiu jitsu. oooosss
